BioEng’2003
The 7th Portuguese Conference on Biomedical Engineering, an official meeting of the Portuguese Society of Biomedical Engineering (SPEB), took place on the 26th and 27th of June 2003, in Lisbon. Approximately 100 persons attended the meeting, where some of the latest research developments in the fields of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering were presented and discussed. The programme comprised a total of 6 plenary sessions, 31 oral sessions and over 30 posters.
The members of the Organizing Committee would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the speakers and attendants, and to all those who contributed to the success of this conference. We look forward to the next meeting.

The Organizing Committee have decided to distinguish with the Best Poster Award the poster entitled "A biochip based on the magnetoresistive effect: Detection of hybridisation of cystic fibrosis related oligonucleotide sequences" by H. A. Ferreira, et al.
The winner will receive a copy of "The Biomedical Enginering Handbook" edited by J.D. Bronzino
A Honor Mention has been awarded to the poster entitled "Quantitative Comparison of 3D Left Ventricular Stroke Volume With Phase Contrast Angiography" by M. Pontes, et al..
