The venue for the BioEng’ 2003 conference is Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon. Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian is a private institution, established in 1956, whose statutory goals are Charity, Art, Education and Science. Its main premises are located in Lisbon, and they comprise a concert hall, an area for temporary exhibitions, a conference area and two museums, integrated in the pleasant setting of Parque Gulbenkian. The scientific activities of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, with a strong emphasis in the genetic development of complex systems, are concentrated at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, located in Oeiras, in the outskirts of Lisbon.
